Dear Friends and family,
Welcome to Midland Indian Association, the largest Bengali Association in Midlands and possibly in the UK. With over 160 members and a combined footfall of around 2000 in our biggest festival, Durgapuja, the fun and excitement never stops here.
From its humble beginnings in a drawing room of one of the founder members, the association has come a long way to boast of a self contained venue, featuring a fully functional stage with lights and audio, a fully equipped kitchen, seating facilities for over 300 people and dining arrangement at a time of over 80 people. Thanks to a Lottery Commission grant and untiring efforts of the senior founder members and generous contributions, this dream of having a home away from home, has been possible.
As the next generation of members, it is our endeavour to take this association forward – maintain the traditions and bring in new ideas, where anyone can come and enjoy being a Bengali and an Indian.
We celebrate all the Bengali festivals in their truest forms and Durgapuja and Doljatra probably epitomises the meeting of old and youth in a celebration that encompasses all.
We have plans to host big name artists as well as budding talents at our functions and all are welcome to give us ideas and contacts.
So please drop in sometime, enjoy a puja lunch or maybe a social evening and dinner – we look forward to welcoming you with open arms, and I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!
